The Majesty of God

Have you ever looked up at a clear night sky filled with stars or watched a beautiful sunrise and simply stood in awe? That is exactly where Psalm 19 begins.

God has made Himself known through His creation. The heavens, the sky, the sun, the mountains, and every part of nature declare His glory. Each day and every night, creation points us to its magnificent Creator. Theologians refer to this as general revelation because God reveals Himself through the world He has made.

Just as an artist can be recognized by the craftsmanship of their work, God's fingerprints are evident throughout His creation. Its vastness, precision, beauty, and intricate design all point to an all-powerful, wise, and purposeful Creator. The universe did not come into existence by accident.

While creation clearly reveals that God exists and displays His power and divine nature, it does have important limitations. It does not reveal the way of salvation. Nature itself cannot tell us that Jesus Christ died for our sins and rose again. It cannot explain God's plan of redemption or how we can be forgiven and reconciled to Him. For that, we need God's special revelation found in His Word.

Even so, creation leaves humanity without excuse. Every sunrise, every mountain range, every ocean wave, and every star-filled sky declares God's greatness. This should move every person to seek the God who created all things, thank Him for the gift of life, and worship Him as Creator and King.

Today, take a moment to look around you. As you see God's handiwork in creation, let it fill your heart with wonder and worship. Then let that wonder lead you to His Word, where He has fully revealed Himself through Jesus Christ.
